About the Flinders and Upper North Training Network
The Flinders and Upper North Local Health Network (FUNLHN) provides a broad range of clinical experiences in both hospital and primary care settings based in Whyalla and Port Augusta. You will also gain a unique experience in your intern year and PGY2+, with rotations at the Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS) in Port Augusta providing comprehensive primary health care services to residents in the far west and northern regions of South Australia. The RFDS has established a high quality Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) accredited teaching practice and liaises with the Port Augusta Hospital and Health Service and central medical services in Adelaide when providing services.
For interns, FUNLHN delivers intern rotations across RFDS, emergency medicine/general practice, general medicine, general surgery and general practice. While PGY2+ rotations are available over anaesthetics, obstetrics, emergency/general inpatients and general medicine. Advanced skills training is offered in obstetrics and gynaecology (RANZCOG Associate Procedural) and anaesthetics (RGA).
FUNLHN offers the full requirements of both the RACGP and Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) fellowship pathways.
