About the Limestone Coast training network
Completing your postgraduate training through the Limestone Coast Training Network can help kickstart your career in rural generalism.
The Limestone Coast Local Health Network (LCLHN) provides a broad and diverse training program to Rural Generalist trainees, or those interested in rural medicine. Training opportunities are across Mount Gambier and Districts Health Service (MGDHS), Naracoorte Health Service (NHS) and across primary care locations in the region. Visit the Limestone Coast regional lifestyle page to see what it’s like to live in the Limestone Coast.
You can complete your internship through this training program, with the potential to continue your PGY2+ years in a rural setting. PGY2+ positions are aimed at Trainee Medical Officers (TMO) who have just completed an internship and wish to continue work in rural general practice or in a rural hospital.
TMO positions are based for a full year at MGDHS, with the LCLHN Medical Education Unit providing educational support for the training program.
Preference is given to applicants committed to a career in rural or regional practice across primary care, hospital-based care or both. The program is designed to provide a diverse range of clinical experience that is truly representational of rural medicine.
